Greg VanHouten Memorial Truck and Tractor Pull

Sep 10, 2011                                                                                              Kent City, MI

2011 marks the 3nd annual Greg VanHouten Memorial Pull.  Greg had the idea to put the pull together in conjunction with the annual Kent City Fall Festival about 4 years ago and it has grown every year since.  For those that may not be familiar with Greg VanHouten, he loved all forms of truck and tractor pulling from the little green "put puts" all the way up to the mighty diesel "smokers".  Greg had a gift to talk and make you want to listen to him.  He lent his extensive background on pulling to the microphone and was the voice of many pulls around MI from local brush pulls up to national sanctioned NTPA events.  He took the extra effort to get to know the competitors and those involved and really made even the largest events feel small and intimate to all those in earshot.

Sadly, Greg was taken from us unexpectedly in January 2009 from a heart attack.  It is only appropriate that we carry on his memory in a sport he loved very much.

We would like to extend appreciation to those that make this event possbile with their generous financial donations.
